So I ask the people here in this hub who played through the game: Does Visage have this moment when it might blow me away? We really want to give the game a fair chance (otherwise we would've already dropped it). But I ask anyway because I've played a lot of games recently that blew me away very late in the game. Maybe, yeah, possible, this is a "The game is simply not for you" case. There is no fun exploring the house because of this.
I'm so frustrated because I really looked forward to Visage and yes, the overall premise of the game is fantastic and it could also be a good game if it wasn't drowned in Gimmicks that annoys the player. Yet, the game is made foir exploration - but instead of letting you explore the creepy house, tutorial messages are popping in or a light bulb says farewell. We are only at the beginning (about 2 hours in) and annoyed and frustrated and the system constantly yells at me that I have to to this or that and that I have to avoid anything else to stay sane. Do not move with a candle, if you do so, the flame will fade (serious?) Strategically place candles to see something in dark places - of course only if you find a lighter to actually light this candle up
Change ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ damaged light bulbs (is this a Horror Game or the facility manager simulator?) Find rare scattered pills to stay sane if you stood to long in the dark Do not stand around for 20 seconds or your character will lose his sanity You cannot absord the atmosphere simply because the system is constantly bothering you with some weird ♥♥♥♥. so unique is either not featured in Visage or is simply presented in an overblown way. It sure has a fantastic premise but everything that made P.T. sounds awesome on paper but man is this game annoying. A more or less spiritual successor to P.T. Could have had better graphics for these characters. My girlfriend bought Visage on Steam and we both play it together because we thought, this is the perfect horror game for Halloween after so many hide and seek indie horror titles. The character design and faces aren't very scary, so it falls a little flat. In terms of scares, there have been some good ones. I have no idea how the progress is in other chapters since I'm stuck in this one. The game doesn't quite give you prompts where it should, like there are no prompts to say you can break mirrors with the sledgehammer. And wasted so much time in random mirrors. Regarding my progress, I started off with Dolores's chapter, which I think is chapter 2 (?).
#Visage horror game how long to beat how to
This tells me the developers need some more experience on how to do this stuff. Just some music going off in the background.
Another instance of poor execution I recall is that is one scene where a ghost is chasing you, but your camera is focussed on the front and the floor, so you don't even see yourself being chased down. And the reason why this is important in a horror game is because when you start getting frustrated with progression or lack thereof, it completely kills any tension and horror that the game is trying to build. And it seems some puzzles have to be done linearly, so if you get to an area without completing the previous area, you're going to waste time not knowing what to do and how to progress. So you could be wondering aimlessly for hours. After the controls, the game has zero guidance on what to do next. Placing items in your inventory, switching hands, it all is just very clunky and I wonder why it wasn't optimised and simplified. This starts from the controls where you can't really carry more than 5 dynamic items, so you basically have to drop them on the floor. While it has a good atmosphere, and does give you those PT vibes, the actual gameplay is pretty obtuse.
